Fishing Charters Melbourne: Williamstown or Werribee South?
Able Fishing & Charters now offers two ways to fish Melbourne's western side of Port Phillip Bay. This guide explains the practical differences so you can choose confidently.

Searching for a Melbourne fishing charter often begins with the fish you hope to catch. The departure point and boat are just as important. Travel time, group size, the kind of atmosphere you want and whether you prefer a shared or smaller-group experience can all shape the day.
Able operates the larger Bacardi from Williamstown and the smaller, faster Bacardi 151 from Wyndham Harbour in Werribee South. Both provide access to Port Phillip Bay, but they suit different groups and charter plans.
Two departure points
Melbourne fishing charters from the west.
Williamstown has long been Able's main base. It is well placed for anglers travelling from Hobsons Bay, inner Melbourne and the CBD, and it supports the larger Bacardi's shared and exclusive fishing trips. Werribee South gives anglers from Wyndham and surrounding western suburbs another option without needing to travel across to Williamstown.
The two locations should not be treated as interchangeable pickup points. Each is associated with a different boat and charter format. When enquiring, tell us where your group is travelling from, how many people are coming and the style of fishing day you have in mind.
Option one
Fishing charters from Williamstown aboard the Bacardi.
The Bacardi is Able's larger vessel and provides a roomy, stable platform for fishing Port Phillip Bay. It is used for published shared trips as well as exclusive charters where one group reserves the boat.
This option can work well for individuals and smaller parties who want to join a shared five-hour session, or for families, mates and work groups that want to book an exclusive trip. Fishing equipment, bait and tackle are supplied on the published Bacardi fishing charters, along with an experienced crew. Catering may be available by prior arrangement.
Williamstown is also the home base for Able's private bay and river cruises, including birthdays, corporate outings, bucks parties and hens celebrations. That makes the Bacardi the more flexible vessel if the group wants to discuss a combination of fishing, cruising or an event-style booking.

Option two
Fishing charters from Werribee South aboard Bacardi 151.
Bacardi 151 is Able's smaller and faster fishing-only boat. It is intended for small groups that want a focused fishing trip and a convenient departure from Wyndham Harbour.
For anglers based in Werribee, Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale, Tarneit, Truganina or nearby suburbs, Werribee South may significantly simplify the morning. Rather than driving to the inner west, the group can meet closer to home and access the western side of Port Phillip Bay from the local harbour.
This boat is not used for party cruises or larger private events. Its purpose is fishing. Adult places are $180 per person, children aged 7 to 13 are $120 per person, and a private charter is $2,000. A minimum of six passengers is required, while duration, capacity and equipment inclusions are confirmed for the selected date.

Making the choice
Start with your group, then choose the boat.
Choose Williamstown when:
- You want to join a shared fishing charter rather than reserve a smaller boat.
- You have a larger group or want the Bacardi's space and onboard facilities.
- Your guests are travelling from the CBD, inner Melbourne or Hobsons Bay.
- You are comparing a fishing trip with a private cruise or celebration.
Ask about Werribee South when:
- Your small group wants a fishing-only trip.
- You prefer a smaller, faster vessel.
- Most guests are travelling from Wyndham or Melbourne's western suburbs.
- You want current trip options tailored to your group and preferred date.
Before you book
Send enough detail to receive the right recommendation.
A useful charter enquiry includes several preferred dates, the number of adults and children, each person's fishing experience and the suburb the group is travelling from. Also mention whether you want a shared trip, exclusive boat or have not yet decided.
Fishing plans remain subject to weather, safe operating conditions and what is practical on the day. Target species vary through the year, and no genuine charter can guarantee a particular catch. The skipper uses the available conditions and information to plan the session.
You can compare every supplied boat and catch photo in the Able Charters gallery, then send an enquiry for availability.
